SeAM ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS & SERVICES
SeAM’s emergency assistance programs provide help for families facing crisis for the first time due to job loss or unexpected expenses. In 2014 63,133 received food, 2,695 received financial aid and more than 16,000 were provided referrals and guidance for special needs.
Helping Hands for Single Parents
Single parents face a host of needs and challenges including nutritional, financial, and educational deficiencies, housing difficulties and unemployment. One-fifth of SeAM’s household are single parents with children. In 2014, SeAM dedicated $79,543 to assisting 746 single parents who care for a total of 1,687 children.
Seniors 60 Plus
Persons 60 and older comprise a significant portion of SeAM’s client population. They are particularly vulnerable to emergency crises requiring assistance for food, medical care, employment and housing that place them at high risk. SeAM provides low income seniors with both emergency assistance and ongoing while also facilitating job placement for those who are unemployed or underemployed.
Children School Assistance
In this year-round program, SeAM provides school clothing, shoes and school supplies to children who are referred by officials at public schools in SeAM service area.
Adopt a Child
Each Christmas SeAM sponsors a Christmas assistance program through which persons volunteer to provide Christmas gifts and make a child’s holiday memorable
