FOOD ASSISTANCE - Nutritious food, including eggs, milk, meat, and fresh produce is provided to clients by the SeAM Food Pantry.  Please inform the staff of an special dietary accommodations at the earliest convenience.   Additionally, mobile Food Fairs are held on scheduled Saturdays at various SeAM partner sites.  Please refer to the schedule below.

HOUSEHOLD, HYGIENE, & INFANT CARE - personal care items are also provided through the Pantry operations as they are available. Please indicate any need(s) when scheduling a pantry appointment.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE - SeAM provides limited financial assistance for rent, utilities, transportation and job related needs. Aid also is available for clients with urgent medical needs such as physician-written prescriptions and medical supplies and equipment.

CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD ASSISTANCE - Vouchers to the SeAM Thrift Store enable clients to obtain clothing, including garments suitable for work, shoes, bed linens, kitchen equipment and other household items.

COMMUNITY REFERRAL - SeAM maintains a large cooperative network with clinical, educational and other social service providers. Clients who need additional specialized forms of assistance are referred to appropriate resources at the time of the initial interview.

Client Service Process

Due to COVID-19, rent and utility assistance interviews are temporarily being conducted via phone call and required documentation must be submitted by fax or email.  Each interview is conducted to identify the client's needs and determine how SeAM can best be of assistance.

Identification Items are Required at Each Visit

  • Photo ID
  • Social Security Numbers for all members of the household that have them
  • Proof of address: Lease or recent bill with person’s name and current address
  • Proof of Income for everyone 18 yrs. or older
  • Pay, Vacate, Eviction Notice for rent or Disconnection Notice for utilities
  • Copies of pledges and/or receipts, as applicable

Mobile Pantries / Food Fairs

The Houston Food Bank has streamlined its mobile pantries operations.

Therefore, SeAM has shifted its operations to food distributions from the ministry's pantry.

 

Residents of SeAM's service area can call the ministry's office at (713) 944 - 0093, Monday through Thursday, to schedule an appointment to receive free groceries on the next business day.

 

Please note that the ministry's office and pantry are closed Fridays through Sundays.  Please call 2-1-1 or access the Houston Food Bank's website for a list of food distribution outlets serving a specific zip code.
